Jerry Falwell's Impact on The Church (5/17/2007)

Jerry Falwell had an immeasurable impact on church and politics. Of course, the church has always been political, but Falwell made an impact on politics with a distinct Christian perspective. As Falwell defined himself, he helped to define and mold the religious right. His polarization of the Christian conservative, what he redefined as evangelical, allowed for an emergence of the progressive Christian.

Thursday's Thoughts 06/05/2008

Hi There Fairview and Friends, We’ve experienced a little June gloom already on day 4 of the month, but now on day 5 the sun shines again!   If you listened to the sermon this last Sunday, it sort of reflected the weather we’re having this week – sometimes we live in the gloom, but then hope takes hold and the sun shines again.

Hi Friends! It was great to see so many Mother’s on Sunday and so many women at women’s group who were came to learn about how to better take care of themselves! Mother’s day was a special day for me, because I had both my mom and my grandmother in church on Sunday –not to mention both of my siblings!

Hi Friends! Last Sunday was our Stewardship Sunday –the day many of us brought to church our green pledge cards and decided how much we are willing to give to our church’s budget for the upcoming fiscal year beginning in July.   If you haven’t heard about our fun service – then you’ll have to ask Alonzo if he wants to be a millionaire!  We had a little game-

Hello Fairview and Friends! Happy May Day!  I have childhood memories of making flower baskets out of strawberry containers and creeping up to my neighbor’s doorsteps, ringing the doorbell, and running away!

Thursday's Thoughts 04/24/2008

Hiya Fairview and Friends! Wow!  What a party we had last Sunday!   We had so many people in church this week –what a beautiful blessing!  Wayne reports that there were 3 visitors to every Fairview regular!  Can you believe it?  Isn’t it amazing that when we welcome peo

Hello Fairview! It’s time to celebrate!  Our party is ready to begin!  Rev. Dr. Marcia Patton is probably in the air as I write on her way to greet us with support from Washington and our Evergreen Association brothers and sisters. Our new interim minister Rev. Dr.
